Here you will find Victorian pattens from the collection of a dear friend, Bruce D. Lindstedt, all digitized by himself ... You will directly be in touch with Bruce when you purchase a pattern or have questions about a pattern. I shall only do my best to accomodate a dear friend in my premises until he feels he may be happier somewhere else. Bruce has the most wonderful collection of 19th Century Berlin Work patterns which usually are handpainted on graph paper. We both dream and aim to also start a series of e-books with his huge collection with a few humble additions from mine. Feel free to contact Bruce at sumere2001 at yahoo dot com ... Floral Bellpull

This Berlin Woolwork pattern of the 1870s, comes from a finished work in the seller's collection. The original finished work is over 10 feet long and was destined to be cut up into bell pulls for the family home. Luckily it never was, so it is intact in it's entire length. Made up of 39 DMC colors it is 40 stitches wide by 187 stitches long, for one repeat, plus the overlapping flowers.

Lilly of the Valley Slipper Bouquet

This pattern comes from the front of a pair of finished victorian slippers in the seller's collection. Originally made in 1860, they have been carefully stored to preserve the beautiful original colors. Comprise of 22 DMC colors, it is 81 stitches wide by 69 stitches tall. It can be made larger by adding a border around the design to extend it.

Rose & Lilly Banner Screen

This 1860's pattern was originally designed for a banner screen that hung from the fireplace mantel to shield the occupants from the intense heat. However, it could also be adapted as a chairback and/or picture. Made up of 47 DMC colors to get the intense shading, it is 111 stitches wide by 134 stitches tall.

Geometric Footstool

This 1870s patterns comes from a finished work in the seller's collection. This once graced a circular footstool but could be adapted to a square or rectangular shape as well by adding a border. Originally executed in wool with silk highlights being the lighter color in each shade, the design has been created in DMC colors which match the original. Comprised of only 9 shades, it is 100 stitches wide by 100 stitches tall.

This 1860s french pattern of Roses and cornflowers come from the seller's collection and is made up of 32 DMC colors that closely match the original bright colors of the pattern. At 71 stitches wide and 70 stitches tall it is a fast pattern to complete

Art Nouveau Chasuble

This French design was originally intended to be a chasuble which would grace a priest's robe. However this can easily be adapted to be a bell pull or bolster stripe. Made up of just 17 DMC colors, it is 100 stitches wide by 210 stitches long for one repeat. It could be made longer by repeating the 2nd motif to the desired length.

This 1860s pattern was introduced to commemorate the induction of Queen Victoria's son as Prince of Wales. The design is 99 stitches wide by 99 stitches tall, and is in the seller's collection. While this pattern was originally designed to be a pin cushion, it could be enlarge to make a larger cushion if desired. The German words mean "I SERVE" and commemorates the German side of Queen Victoria's heritage. It is made up of 19 DMC colors.

This 1866 pattern comes from the seller's collection and while small at 50 stitches wide by 51 stitches tall, is made up of 36 DMC colors to get the intricate shading that was in the original pattern.

This 1860s pattern comes from a finished work in the seller's collection. Originally designed to grace a fireplace mantel this pelmet could could also be great as a window topper. The pattern shows one repeat is 111 stitches wide and 82 stitches tall and comprised of 22 DMC colors.

The coordinating pattern to the cushion, it apparently came from the same designer in the 1880s. This heavy work graced the archway in a victorian home, before it became part of the seller's collection. Like it's companion, it is entirely made up of beadwork. The pattern shows one repeat, but could be made into any desired length. Comprised of 22 DMC colors and is 197 stitches wide by 98 stitches tall.

This 1860s french design comes from a cushion in the seller's collection. An intricate design, it is made up of 24 DMC colors and is 240 stitches wide by 234 stitches tall. On the original finished work the white flowers were done in beadwork.

This 1880s pattern originally graced the top of an ebonized footstool. The design was done in beadwork on a striking deep rich wool ground. The pattern is 145 stitches wide by 118 stitches tall, but could be enlarged to any size by increasing the background color. it is made up of 22 DMC colors. There is also a matching pelmet.

This 1880 Geometric pattern once graced an antique chair in the seller's collection. Comprised of 27 DMC colors, it is 131 stitches wide by 146 stitches tall but could be adjusted to fit any size or shape.

This 1871 pattern was originally designed for punch paperwork as was typical of the Victorian Mottos of the time. Every home had one and reflected biblical or sentimental references. The pattern is 93 stitches wide and 140 stitches tall. Comprised of 23 DMC colors, this includes 4 color schemes for the wording.

This late 1870s pattern from the french designer Sajou, in the seller's collection, reflects a simpler floral design of repeating diagonal stripes of roses and lillies. Comprise of 20 DMC colors, the design is 123 stitches wide and 144 stitches tall but can be adjusted to any size or shape.

Louis 16th Chairseat


This Louis 16th Chairseat is from a french magazine circa 1870. Originally done in two shades of green and yellow against a red background could be adapted for a tablecloth center as well. Pomagranettes and clovers dominate the design and is 231 stitches wide by 275 stitches tall. It is also available in french blue against a white background should that suit your color scheme.

This 1850s pattern comes from the seller's collection. Originally from Berlin, Germany, the original pattern was as bright as the day it was made. The digitized pattern is made up of 60 DMC colors and is 200 stitches wide by 210 stitches tall.

This shepherd is a copy of an 1865 finished work from the seller's collection and is made up of 55 DMC colors to obtain the original shading. It is a large pattern at 242 stiches wide by 230 stitches tall. The original needlework had the background unworked.

This pattern set for a victorian chair back and seat was copied from a finished work in the seller's collection. Comprised of 34 DMC colors, it is 137 stitches wide by 170 stitches tall for the chairback and 125 stitches wide by 122 stitches tall for the chair seat. While the original finished work was done against a black background, it would look equally striking against a peacock blue.

This cabbage rose is a digitized copy of an early finished work in the seller's colletion. Based on the colors and style, I would place this circa 1840. Comprised of 18 DMC colors, it is 54 stitches wide by 58 stitches tall.

This digitized pattern is from an 1875 crocheted doilie in the seller's collection. It was crocheted and then delicately sewn onto a beige watered silk pillow. I have shown it so it matches the original colors, but could be made in color to suit your tastes or available thread. At 150 stitches wide by 149 stitches tall, it fast to complete.

Rosebud Bellpull

This 1863 pattern comes from a finished work in the seller's collection. The original work was done in wool with the lightest color in each rose and leaf, done in silk. Comprised of 41 DMC colors that closely match the original work, it is 53 stitches wide by 178 stitches tall for 2 repeats. If you desire the rosebuds in one color, please let me know and I will alter the pattern for you.

French Geometric Chairseat

This pattern is based on an 1868 dated French finished needlepoint chairseat. Never used and expertly preserved the colors are as strong today on the original finished work, as the day it was made. Comprised of 14 DMC colors, it is 165 stitches wide by 172 stitches tall and can be enlarged by repeating the pattern to the desired size.

This 1880s pattern from France was originally designed for a chair seat but could be adapted to a purse if so desired. Consisting of 37 DMC colors and a size of 117 stitches wide by 100 stitches tall, the design matches exactly the finished work in the seller's collection.

Waterlillies

This 1860s pattern of Waterlillies and birds is copied from a finished work in the seller's collection. The Waterlillies were originally completed in beads while the birds and foliage were done in wool. The background had faded to a soft rose beige, which I have used here as the background. At 146 stitches wide and 148 stitches tall, it is made up of 25 DMC colors. There was a corresponding chairback that accompanied the seat, however it was too damaged to salvage.

This pattern was created based off of a completed chairseat in the seller's collection. Circa 1865, is made up of 42 DMC colors and is 118 stitches wide by 100 stitches tall when completed.
The original backrgound on the chairseat was black, which was typical of the time, however it would look fabulous in any color.

This small pattern of a spaniel was modeled after Queen Victoria's famed spaniel, Dash. The original pattern was designed by the french patternmaker of the time, Sajou and comes from the seller's collection. Circa 1865, this pattern is comprised of 14 DMC colors and is 56 stitches high by 56 stitches wide.

This pattern of poppies if from the famouse french needlework designer SAJOU in the 1850s and is in the seller's collection. Made up of 28 DMC colors this design is 59 stitches wide by 37 stitches tall. It is the companion to the SAJOU Rose Bouquet.

Beadwork Footstool

This pattern in the seller's collection was originally designed for a circular footstool was was to be completed in beads and woolwork. Digitized in 16 DMC colors that match the original pattern, the finished design is 109 stitches wide by 109 stitches tall and can be enlarged by expanding the background to suit your needs. While the design was recreated using the original green palet, I also created a version in blue for those where it would fit the decor better. When ordering just state which version you are buying.

An 1860s pattern, this calla lilly bouquet is made up of 22 DMC colors and is 70 stitches wide by 70 stitches tall. The original pattern had french blue, as shown, as the background, but would look striking against either a red or black background as well.

Art Nouveau Footstool

This pattern from France in the 1870s was originally designed for the small round gout footstools of the time. Both the pattern and the finished design come from the seller's collection and was done in a combination of wool, silk and beads. The design is 98 stitches wide by 98 stitches high and can be expanded by continuing the background color to the desired size. Completely made up of 9 DMC colors, the shades are both striking and tyical for the time.

This 1860s pattern is of a repeating passion flower amid ribboned scrollwork. The original pattern called for the passion flower being green and I have created the alternate version in blue for those where green does not match their decor. Comprised of 16 DMC colors, this design is 120 stitches wide and 35 stitches tall for slightly over 1 repeat.

This 1870s french pattern was entitled Italian Brocade. Originally designed for a footstool, this pattern lends itself to a pillow or chairseat as well by expanind the border to the desired width. Comprised of 9 DMC colors it is in it's original size as 106 stitches wid by 106 stitches tall.

Whippet






This grouping of Peach Blossoms was faithfully digitized from an 1860s German Berlin Work pattern in the seller's collection. At 61 stitches wide by 71 stitches tall, it is made up of 20 DMC colors.












Single Rose & Poppy Ovals

These two patterns came from an 1865 finished sampler made by a young girl aged 10, from the seller's collection. The single poppy oval consists of 19 DMC colors and is 38 stitches wide by 54 stitches high. It's counterpart, the Single Rose oval is slighly larger at 42 stitches wide by 57 stitches high and consists of 23 DMC colors. As they were both on the same sampler on either side of a central motif, I chose to keep them together.

Poppy Slipper Bouquet-2

This faithfully digitized pattern come from an original completed Berlin Woolwork and beadwork slipper, in the seller's collection. Circa 1860, this pattern originally graced the toe portion of a woman's slipper. Consisting of 31 DMC colors, this pattern is 80 stitches wide by 80 stitches tall.

This pattern from the seller's collection once graced a clock shelf and was made of bead and woolwork. It has been faithfully recreated in 29 DMC colors and the pattern for one repeat is 139 stitches wide by 63 stitches tall. The original work consisted of one design with two half repeats on either side of the center to complete the edge of the shelf.

Pug Firescreen

This design in the seller's collection, originally came from a Victorian firescreen and was badly damaged. It has been faithfully recreated in 28 DMC colors and is 141 stiches wide by 144 stitches tall. Colors and be lighted up on the Pug Dog if you choose. Beadwork Bouquet

This digitized pattern is from an 1865 beadwork footstool in the seller's collection. The original finished work was done in shades of grey steel beads and the background and leaves were done in shades of green wool. Made up of 27 DMC colors, it is 70 stitches high by 70 stitches wide. I have also made a duplicate of the pattern in red, which is similar in color to another beadwork that I own. When ordering please let me know which color pattern you prefer.

Small Pansy Bouquet

This small pansy bouquet pattern was part of a larger Berlin Woolwork Sampler in the seller's collection. Made up of 18 DMC colors, it is 38 stitches wide by 41 stitches high. These samplers were made by young women to practice both stitches and letters. This particular pattern comes from one that was made in 1848 by a young girl who was 8 years of age. The muted colors are true to the original finished work.

This Berlin Work Style Pattern was introduced in 1876 to coincide with the celebration of the Centenial of the United States. While not a true silhouette, the pattern highlights hair and clothing which would have been otherwise missed.
